Very-Low-Birthweight Infants at
To determine whether history of chronic lung disease (CLD) in children born at very low birthweight (VLBW) confers additional risk for impaired health, growth, and neurodevelopment, 17 VLBW children born in 1984 who had CLD (requiring supplemental oxygen more than 30 days after birth) in infancy and 28 VLBW children who did not have CLD were assessed at age 7 years. Assessments included a medic...
متن کاملVisual impairment in very low birthweight children.
AIMS To compare the visual function of a cohort of very low birthweight (VLBW) children in early adolescence with that of their normal birthweight peers; to correlate visual impairment in this group with available perinatal data; and to examine the relation between the visual ability of VLBW children and their cognitive and motor skills. متن کاملCerebral palsy in very low birthweight infants.
Eighty one very low birthweight survivors with cerebral palsy were matched with controls by sex, gestational age, and place of birth. Using discriminant analysis, the perinatal profiles for infants with cerebral palsy and their controls were shown to differ significantly. When infants with various types of cerebral palsy were analysed with their controls the discriminating variables differed. D...
متن کاملCopper and very low birthweight babies.
Serum concentrations of copper and ceruloplasmin were measured in 24 very low birthweight babies. They were high in those weighing less than 1000 g, and critically ill or receiving intravenous nutrition, and normal in those with bone disease, neutropenia, or oedema. Care is needed to maintain adequate concentrations without toxicity.
متن کاملProtein Requirements of Low Birthweight, Very Low Birthweight, and Small for Gestational Age Infants
